Set Up Stripe Product Part 1

This video walks through creating a recurring subscription product in Stripe and shows where to find the Stripe Product ID you’ll need later for the CMS setup (Part 2). 1. Open Stripe Dashboard (make sure you’re in the correct account/workspace and in the intended mode). 2. In the left navigation, go to Product catalogue. 3. Click Create product (top right). 4. In the Add a product form: - Enter a Product name (example shown: “My first Stripe Product”). - (Optional) Add a Description and Image if needed. 5. Product tax code (optional depending on your tax setup): - Click Select a tax code. - Pick a suitable category for digital subscriptions (the video shows selecting a *digital audiovisual / subscription-type* tax code). - Save the tax code selection. 6. Under Pricing: - Select Recurring (not one-off). - Set the Amount. - Choose the Currency (the video demonstrates switching currencies and ends up creating the example price in GBP). - Set Billing period to Monthly. - Choose whether to Include tax in price (the video flips this to Yes). 7. Click Add product to create it. 8. After creation, open the product’s detail page and locate: - Product ID (starts with something like `prod_…`) in the Details panel on the right. - Confirm the recurring price is listed correctly (e.g., “per month”). That’s Part 1: Stripe now has the subscription product. Part 2 is where you connect the product inside your CMS so the platform knows which Stripe product/price to use.
