This video demonstrates how to create a new category in the CMS and configure it as a Widget (a reusable content block) that links to an External Page. The example uses a large image format for this link, cover and widescreen images can be used as well. Guide: Creating a Category with an External Link Step 1: Create the New Category (0:03 – 0:22)** 1. Navigate to CMS in the left sidebar and select Categories (0:03 – 0:04). 2. Click the + CREATE button in the top right corner (0:06). 3. Enter a descriptive title (0:09 – 0:12). 4. Enter the URL slug (0:15 – 0:18). 5. External Identifier: Enter a unique external identifier for tracking (0:20 – 0:22). Step 2: Assign an Image (0:23 – 0:45) This image will be the visual component of the link on the frontend. 1. In the Category details view, locate the Image section on the right side. 2. Click Select next to the desired image field, such as 'Widget Image Big 985x323' (0:38 – 0:39). 3. Select the desired image from the image library (0:44 – 0:45). The image is now assigned. Step 3: Define the External Link (1:05 – 1:11) 1. Scroll down to the 'Widget Links' section (1:00). 2. In the 'Linked Url' field (1:05), paste the full URL of the external page you wish to link to (1:07). Note: This field is used instead of `linkedMovieId` or `linkedSeriesId` to direct the category block to an external website. Step 4: Configure for Default Widget Display (0:48 – 1:00) This step ensures the category is displayed as a simple widget/banner on the frontend. 1. Scroll down to the 'Flags' section under Additional Metadata (0:48). 2. Click 'Select Target' and choose 'Widgets' (0:53 – 0:54). 3. Click 'Select Flag' and choose 'Default Widget' (0:55 – 0:57). Click ADD (0:57). Step 5: Save and Review (1:11 – 1:28) 1. Click SAVE (1:11) to apply the changes. 2. Navigate to the platform's frontend (1:24) and refresh the page.
